PIONEERING SPACE SURGEON IN THE NEWS - HOME & AWAY!

prof mackay

By using techniques learned in collaboration with the famed Steadman Clinic in Colarado, SPACE Orthopaedic Director Gordon Mackay has hit the national news this week.

Gordon is pioneering a new method of treating ligamentous injuries. They can now be fixed internally using a form of tape inserted via keyhole surgical methods rather than the more traditional conservative treatment when patients have to endure a lengthy spell of immobilisation in a plaster cast (or 'stookie' as has been widely reported across the media!).

To see how this was reported at home here in Scotland read this link here:

However the story has gone global. It's fascinating how these articles are translated for a foreign audience. How about this translated version from Saudi Arabia?

Fascinating how 'brother' translates to 'hermit' for example.

Anyhow a great story however it's been reported, and great to see how another member of the SPACE team is pushing the boundaries.

If you want to see Gordon at SPACE, he is available to anyone on a Tuesday morning-just call the team at reception to make your booking!
